What’s happening? It’s Captain Jimmy Decker here. I’m going to show you guys what the set-up was that we were using today outside through 50, 8 feet medium heavy with the emphasis more on heavy. Sixty-five pound spider wire Ultracast and a little piece of 40 pound Fluorocarbon leader.

Today we were targeting the deeper water; 60 to 80 feet, looking for those bigger fish suspended on the stones. So I was using an ounce and a half war slayer swim jig. And I was rigging that up on a Berkley® 6 inch Gulp! curly tail grub. I always like to rig my grub with the curl of the tail going opposite of the bend of the hook. Straight in, straight out. This is a big profile. This is big fish bait. And that’s what it looks like right there. This is just casting it out, letting it sink down at the bottom, working it low and slow over the stones. The sweet guard keeps this bait from getting hung up, and the sensitivity of the line, and the stiffness of the rod transform to a real good hook set when you get bit in 60 feet.

So it’s always good to mix it up; a little bit on top, a little bit on the bottom. Today, most of the fish came out of the deeper water and this is the rig we were using to get them.
