by David from La Pine, Oregon on July 15, 2015
Received the order on time. The installation was easy and the unit is a little over kill for my boat, but that's the way I like it.. It allows me to go to a larger engine if I want. Very happy. Dave Aydelott

Its all that
by Flint from Gillsville, Georgia on August 05, 2014
I was skeptical when I ordered the PT-130 tilt trim package. I had read all the reviews and they sounded good but when I installed it and put it to work, I was pleasantly surprised. It really was all it was said to be. The best part is that it performs very well. I would recommend it to any one. Installation was a breeze as well. I had an overhead crane to work with so all I had to do was unbolt the motor, slide the tilt trim in and bolt it up. I was ready to go in an hour. Well worth the money.

Strong and well made
by Carl from Newport, Washington on July 18, 2013
Very strong and well made. Wiring ready to plug in and mount switch. The only thing I didn't care for was the adaptability to the older style engine with clamps. However, I didn't purchase the adapter plate. I machined my own. Handles my 1987 85 HP very well. Carl, Newport,WA

Very heavy duty product
by Paul from Waite Park, Minnesota on November 12, 2012
This is a heavy duty product and works as advertised to trim and tilt up to 90°. Installation instructions were good. I was able to install the unit completely on my own. I lifted the 70 HP 1978 Evinrude outboard with a come-along hung from my garage rafters. The standard bolt holes worked. No drilling was required. I used a Jaw Horse to hold the unit up behind the boat. I lifted one end of the Jaw Horse up and then the other end to get the unit onto the bolts. Some of the supplied stainless steel bolts were too long. I was able to cut them off with a 4" grinder with a cutoff blade. It is easy to damage the threads on the bolts. Stainless steel is soft. At one point a nut became stuck on a bolt that was damaged. It could not be reversed. So it had to be cut off. The weather has turned cold and I will not be able to test it in water until spring.

48 HP Evinrude
by Danny from Rincon, Georgia on June 26, 2011
48 HP evinrude manual assist tilt was next to impossible to tilt when in the water and fishing tidal water by myself the fear of getting stuck in shallow water. The PT-130 relieved much of that fear and installation was a breeze. I didn't remove any thing from the 48HP and hoisted it up with the ring on the motor and slid it aside then installed the PT130 by myself. The unit is heavy but I was able to put a bolt in the top hole of the boat then align with that hole and loosely attach the PT130. I then lifted the unit and installed the other top bolt, tightened them down and hooked up the power as described in the instructions and raised the unit to install lower bolts. Attached 48Hp to highest location and I get full tilt. Good luck with your install.

transom adapter raised motor too high!!!
by Robert from Huffman, Texas on January 19, 2012
After installing my cmc tilt and trim and installing my adapter and even lowering the cmc as low as I could to still mount into wood on the transom (its on a aluminum boat) prop cavitates/blows out. I am not sure how to fix this problem I might could move it down another 1/2 inch but not sure if that would work. I can see this working better on a fiberglass boat but an aluminum boat does not displace that much water. I have had my prop redone with more cup and am going to try and aluminum tail on the motor to see if that helps. Very unhappy,

Q:
What is the advantage of geting the Gauge?
A:
You can have a gauge that tells you the up and down level of the tilt.

Q:
What is the switch control unit..is it dash mount or mountable by the steering colum?
A:
It is just a three wire toggle switch, they say you can just mount it right there with your instrument cluster.

Q:
I have a 30 Yamaha 3 cyl that is a clamp on motor. Will I need to purchase the "clamp on adapter kit" for my motor to work on this unit?
A:
Yes you will need to get that adapter to mount your clamp on motor, part number 13022.

Q:
Will this work for a 1973 Johnson 85esl73m?
A:
Yes it works on most outboards up to 130 HP.

Q:
I have an ETEC 40hp Model # E40DRLSDA, will this unit work for my outboard?
A:
Yes. It is rated for outboards that are 130hp or smaller.

Q:
I have an ETEC 40hp Model # E40DRLSDA that is the clamp on type what adapter plate is required??
A:
You need part number 13022. It is for installation of motors mounted with transom clamps. It works with the CMC PT-130 tilt and trim.

Q:
Will this work for a Yamaha 4 stroke 20 hp?
A:
This will work for any engine application up to 130 horsepower, so it should work well for your 20 horsepower Yamaha.

Q:
Is this the right unit for a 2005 Yamaha 25hp 4 stroke or the PT-35? My motor is currently bolted to the transom. Will I need an adaptor?
A:
You will need the PT-130 for Yamaha 4-stroke. You will not need any adapters of any kind, it is provided for clamp-on motors if that's what you have. Other than that it just bolts on.

Q:
What kind of wiring harness comes with this unit?
A:
It is a 16" wiring, includes 2 80amp relays, a 40 amp circuit breaker and a 5 amp inline fuse.

Q:
Will I have to worrie about my steering cables being long enough and can I still run my Finn on the motor or do I remove it I have a 85 HP?
A:
The only thing you will need to be aware of for the steering cables is there will be a 6 inch set back. By fin, I think you are speaking of the hydro-foil, you can keep that on as well.

Q:
Will this work on adpt. from 40hp to 20hp 4stroke?
A:
It's for use with the PT-130 / THT-130C for installation of smaller motors mounted with transom clamps.

Q:
So is there anything out there for a 50hp?
A:
Yes CMC offers another one up to 130 HP. 13001 is the part number for that.

Q:
I have a 9.9 yamaha 2 stroke kicker 1990's will this be suffice for the pt 35?
A:
Yes.

Q:
Compare this unit to panther integral model 25?
A:
Panther is designed for certain 2-stroke Johnson/Evinrude engines only. The PT-35 can accommodate more outboards. For more info give us a call at 1-800-914-1123.

Q:
IS EVERYTHING INCLUDED WITH THIS KIT?
A:
Refer to the Description tab to see what is all included with this product.

Q:
What is the Warranty on this?
A:
Frame structure is 5 year and hydraulic actuator mechanism is 1 year.

Q:
Will the PT-35 accomodate an Evinrude E-Tec 40 horsepower tiller model?
A:
According to our files, this will not work for anything larger than 35 horsepower.

Q:
Will this unit work with a 4stroke 30 HP Suzuki?
A:
According to CMC this should work for your application. Only certain 4-stroke Yamaha's will not accommodate PT-35.

Q:
What is the maximum weight motor weight?
A:
It generally will only fit up to 35 horsepower, and certain 4-stroke engines may not fit with this product. You will have to check to see if your unit has clamps and thumb screws. Certain engines will require the PT-130 instead.

Q:
So how do I know what motor and what will fit your product. Do you have a chart.?
A:
It really comes down to the horsepower, primarily. Also, if it is a Yamaha 4-stroke or any engine similar to that, it will not fit. We have just been informed by CMC that it will only work with 2-stroke engines that go up to 35 horsepower.

Q:
How do I find the trim motor that matches your product.???
A:
If you have an engine that is 35 horsepower or less and is a 2-stroke, this should work for you. If you have anything larger than that, you will want to consider the PT-130. We have this available with or without the gauge, part numbers 13001 or 13002.

Q:
Where is the acctuator switch? Can it be moved?
A:
Yes, it can be moved, you can mount it where ever you want, most mount it by their controls.

Q:
How much does these weigh?
A:
This product weighs approximately 40 lbs.

Q:
I have a 20hp tohatsu 4 stroke, will the PT 35 work and adapt to my current motor or will I need an adaptor.?
A:
No need for an adaptor, should mount with the industry standard BIA pattern.

Q:
Can this be wired into the tilt and trim button on my control handle?
A:
This can be wired to your tilt and trim button on your control handle as long as you have a 3 wire switch.

Q:
What models does this work for? Johnson? 1977 85HP?
A:
This will work for any engine between 65 and 130 horsepower.

Q:
I do a lot of towing with my 17 ft 1987 Sea Nymp with 50 hp Mariner. Will this unit put extra stress on the transom due to the extension from the transom especially when tilted during towing?
A:
It is entirely possible. For more information in this area, feel free to call us at (800)-914-1123.

Q:
Can anyone verify that this unit WILL NOT automatically lower when power is applied to the throttle. My current Mercury has a "safety feature" that lowers the tilt to the upper trim limit @ anything over 1500 rpm. It's not a powered lowering, just a pressure release within the cylinder.t"?
A:
CMC confirms that this will not automatically lower when power is applied to the throttle.

Q:
Does this unit have the trim buttons to place on throttle control handle. or mounting box etc ?
A:
CMC confirms you can wire the 3 wires into any 3 terminal switch. So as long as your switch in the throttle is 3 terminals, it will work.

Q:
Will this hold up a mariner 115 hp and hold trim on pontoon 21'?
A:
Yes it will hold your motor. It holds up to 130 HP engines.

Q:
Will this work on a 1986 50hp mercury?
A:
Yes this will work as it takes standard B.I.A bolt hole patterns.

Q:
I have an older 55 hp application for the restoration of an older run-about glass boat. It is built for a short shafted motor install. I have a great long shafted 55 HP Johnson that I would to use instead. Does the PT 130 come with multiple B.I.A patterns that will allow this transformer, and is there a web site place that I can research your multiple bolt patterns to be more certain that I can bolt this long shaft motor to this short shaft boat before I buy one only to find out I have no chance that it will work? My e-mail address is larcher@neo.rr.com?
A:
It only comes with the standard BIA pattern which has been in effect for many years. So it only comes in one. We can send the specs of the BIA hole pattern, but you you will need to contact us at the number at the top of the page.

Q:
Will this work with a mercury 9.9 4st bigfoot?
A:
The PT-35 would be a better fit as it is made for smaller outboards up to 35 HP. http://www.iboats.com/Electric-Hydraulic-Power-Tilt-And-Trim-PT-35-CMC/dm/view_id.392343
