Evinrude Starters

Perfect fit and works great. I didn't realize how weak my old starter was until I installed this one. Would buy again without hesitation.

Sierra starter number 18-5624 for a 1993 Evinrude 40 hp outboard motor did not have a bushing seperating the cable post from the main housing. I did not notice this before installing the starter. When I attempted to start the motor my battery post melted. The starter created a dead ground. After this was fixed, I attempted to start the motor again, well the bendix would not disengage. I hope this was just a lemon.

My first purchase with i.boats. Happy to have done it. Received the part in good time considering that I'm stationed in Italy. The SIERRA starter works great. Most of all I'm very happy with the customer service personnel (JAKE GRIGGS), very helpfull, professional and competent. Thank you very much.

This starter came with fine thread bolts thru it that are also used for mounting. O.E.M. starter had coarse thread bolts.made it dificult to install. also mounting flange on end cap behind the drive had bigger O.D. than the I.D. of the bracket it mounts to. Turned a 20 min job into an hour plus. would not recommend! Would have sent it back,but needed to get the job done.

When I received the starter I was happy to see that it appeared to look oK, however when I went to install it I found that the long bolts were a fine thread instead of the course thread like the old one. Also looking when I went to take the long bolts out of the starter I found that for some crazy reason the bolts threaded through the top end of the starter unlike the old one that the bolts just passed through to the bracket. My thoughts were to send it back, but I knew that I would only recieve the same starter. So I had to bore out the threaded end of the starter and use the bolts from the old starter. Very frustrating to say the least!!! My suggestion is to make sure that the people who makes thease parts know a little more about there application. I know that its all about making money, but there is a small thing about making it right and maybe satifisfying the customer. It will be a long time if ever that I buy anything from this company again!!!!!! Thanks for allowing me to express my disappointment!!!!

My original stater must have burned up from staying engaged. It would only crank over slowly. Make sure you grease the gear drive often or this will happen. I've had this new starter for about a month now and no problems.

A little pricey but works great. Shipped fast also.
