Sierra gaskets are constructed from proven, hi-temperature composites, capable of reaching over 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The gaskets do not include harmful asbestos materials, which give off harmful fumes when heated. They are capable of withstanding higher heat and pressures, which are commonly found in the marine environment.

In past years, gasket manufacturers have relied on asbestos to be the primary fiber material found in gaskets due to its ability to handle heat over long periods of time. Today, Sierra utilizes armid fibers, in addition to their composite blend of material, creating a gasket that meets or exceeds the demands of the seals recommend by the engine manufacturer.
