Works as avertised

The only complaint I have is that it doesn't screw on to the dip stick tube. It comes with a skinny plastic tube that you insert down the dipstick tube. Other than that it works perfectly!

Awful - awful - awful
by Frank from Dublin, Pennsylvania on October 12, 2015
Purchased to extract 6 quarts of oil from my older 5.7L Chris Craft. The extraction tube is so short I had to hold the pump over the dipstick tube, while trying to keep the tube from slipping off the fitting and sinking down into the dipstick tube, and all while trying to keep the outlet hose in my container. But what the heck, if it works, right? But it didn't. After 5 minutes (the recommended continuous use rating), I only had about 1/2 qt. of oil. Then I ran it for another 5 minutes, hoping it would just burn itself up. At least I would get some entertainment from it. Then I feared I would just wind up running down my battery, so I yanked off the cables and whirled it out of my boat! I went inside and got my cheap, orange hand pump and discovered that the 3/8 hose fit perfectly over the dipstick tube. A few quick pumps got the oil up the tube and I was done in about 5 minutes - all six quarts pumped out - by hand! Maybe this pump's tube wasn't down as far as it needed to be, or maybe I needed to prime the pump - I don't know. But if you have an older 5.0L, 5.7L, or a big block - don't buy this thing. Save your money and buy the manual hand pump to keep in your boat. I use mine for everything - fuel, bilge, and now oil changes!
