This item is found in the following Product Families
  • High Performance Hydrofoils streamlined for speed in two sizes
  • The SE Sport will improve handling and provide better maneuverability with a smoother ride
  • Features Turbo Trac to enhance thrust and control
  • Crescent shaped surface quickly funnels water for more thrust-cutting planing time for the quickest hole shot
  • Cuts planing time dramatically and keeps the boat on plane at lower speeds
  • Features on piece, high strength copolymer construction
  • Stainless steel hardware included
  • Attaches to cavitation plate
  • Works for both outboards and sterndrives that have a cavitation plate larger than 5 inches wide, usually 40 horse power and up.The SE Sport 200 is recommended for cavitation plates 5 inches or less.
  • Many Honda outboards are made with a center cavitation plate ridge. Some Hondas will require a slight cut or bigger notch in the "yoke" area of the foil. This is necessary to give 1/2" spacing between the rear holes to be drilled and the end of the cavitation plate. Cutting a notch can easily be handled with a small saw or grinder and will not affect the durability or warranty of the SE Sport.

Absolute best single expenditure I've made to improve my boats performance
by Bobby from Bristol, Tennessee on September 06, 2015
I purchased this SE Sport 300 Hydrofoil. I chose the direct bolting option rather than using the "sport clip" which permits installation without drilling, it is being returned to iboats unused. I used the included template to mark and drill holes thru the cavitation plate. I had to remove the propeller to attain the proper angle for drilling from the bottom up. Overall an easy process requiring only tape, drill, drill bit, a center punch and small hammer to mark the exact spot and keep the drill bit centered, and small socket wrench and phillips screwdriver. Working slowly and cautiously it took about an hour to install. Performance wise the improvement was immediately noticable. I installed the hydrofoil on an Aquatron 18' open bowel sport boat with Mercruiser 4.3L V-6 sterndrive. The boat attains plane a little bit quicker. The big noticable change is that I am now able to cruise much smoother with almost no proposing. Rough or smooth water. I can run at or near full throttle maintaining a smooth ride, something I could not do before the hydrofoil. Crossing other boats wakes used to upset my boat and set to porposing (bow bouncing) so bad I had to slow way down. Amazingly now I motor on with no significant trouble. When rough water or wakes do set it to bouncing I just trim it in a little-it settles down immediately and I trim back out and keep on going. I am so impressed with the performance of the hydrofoil! I would buy it again and again. It truly changed the performance characteristics of my boat! Great product, great iboats price including shipping.

Best Add-on for the money
by Michael from Port Orchard, Washington on July 31, 2015
Overall I think this is the best thing I could have done to improve both efficiency and handling over all speed ranges. Have it mounted on a '79 Merc 800 (80hp) 2-stroke driving a 16' Fiberform runabout. Even easing the power up slowly the boat only pitches about 2/3rds of what it did originally, and at full power it just jumps right up on plane within a few seconds. Rough water handling has improved tremendously. Slow speed handling has improved also. The bow used to wander a lot. There is now far less wheel movement required to keep on course. The boat stays on plane at lower rpm's (to about 3100), but is also quite comfortable at 3800. Mileage has increased noticeably at speed. It's not pushing uphill nearly as much. I did not use the provided template for drilling the mounted holes. I put the hydrofoil where it needed to be and clamped to the cavitation plate. Then I used a drill the same size as the clearance holes to spot drill locations, just enough to leave a 1/4 inch or so diameter mark. Drill through 1/4 inch (or Ltrs -E- or -F-) diameter at those locations and mount it. Use the rubber washers between the cavitation plate and the hydrofoil. The thicker ones to the rear. Go ahead and get this one done. You will notice the difference immediately.

SE sport 300 hydrofoil
by Jeffery.d from Nashville, Tennessee on June 09, 2015
The hydrofoil was thicker than other hydrofoils I have seen making it more durable. Helped my boat plane out at much lower speed, would recommend to anyone with planing issues!

71614 SE Sport 300 High Performance Hydrofoil
by Kris from Ragley, Louisiana on October 02, 2014
I installed it on my Mercury 75hp, which is on a Sun Tracker fishing barge 20 pontoon boat. Works great, helps give the motor that extra lift it needs to get the boat out of the water. Love it.

Works great, easy to install
by Ky from Kansas City, Missouri on August 07, 2014
This really helped reduce porpoising with my runabout. We mostly tube and ski so getting on plane faster is a high priority and this SE 300 hydrofoil helped with that. The install wasn't too difficult but I did have to remove the prop to drill holes for the bolts. Be sure to use a titanium drill bit for the holes.

Hydrofoil on 18' ProTracker
by Robert from Springfield, Tennessee on January 05, 2014
Was difficult to plane out without hitting higher speeds with my 60hp Merc but the hydrofoil helps it plane much quicker and maintain even at lower speeds. That's what I had hoped for. Didn't notice any change in steering or handling but that wasn't a problem anyway. Very satisfied with the product.

Works as Advertised
by Jason from Fairborn, Ohio on June 13, 2013
I purchased this at the beginning of the boating season for a newer boat we had just purchased. 1998 Bayliner open bow with 4.3l V6 engine. I had the boat out a few times prior to installing this hydrafoil. It plained out fine before but man what a diference with the hydrafoil. The boat gets on plane much faster now, like about 3 seconds. It is easier to manuver with skiers and tubers. I can't say the top end speed increased. The install was very easy. Took about 30 minutes. Just drilled the holes and installed. The template is helpful. I have had it out several times since. Some folks mentioned on here about losing their hydrafoil. They must have done something wrong when they installed it. Mine is showing no signs of comming off at all. not even a concern. Great product for the price. I will be adding some smart tabs next, not to help it plane out, just to help stabilize the boat in choppy water.

Works Better than Sting Ray Classic
by John from Apex, North Carolina on June 12, 2012
I bought a used 1990 Javelin 378 Fish and Ski boat with a 150 Johnson GT on it. The motor had a Sting Ray Classic hydrofoil on it when I bought it. Hole shot was good, but the boat still porpoised some and turned funny at speed. I decided to try the SE Sport 300 and I am glad I did! Hole shot is still good but steering at all speeds is better with the SE. Top speed also picked up 1 to 2 MPH with the SE. An added plus was the bolt pattern was exactly the same so I did not have to drill any more holes!

No Improvement
by Patti from Rolla, Missouri on September 27, 2011
After reading a lot of very positive reviews for the Sport 300 Hydrofoil I was excited about putting one on my 2005 Mercury 90 4 stroke motor. I was pleased with the installation, but saw no improvement whatsoever in performance. I'm sure it works most of the time, but not for me. Jim

Q:
I don't have a problem with getting on plane but do have a problem with excess water spray. Motor is already mounted as high on transom as possible. Will SE Sport 300 help eliminate excess spray?
A:
Hydrofoil is not designed to do that. You may just get more water coming back into the boat. You will probably want to contact a technician for best results. You can look into a trim tab, but typically excessive water spray is a result of where motor is mounted.

Q:
I have a 23' Sea ray cruiser with a 5.7 L V8 and an Alpha One/Gen One sterndrive. Is the SE Sport 300 recomended for my boat and will it fit my sterndrive. Thanks, Jim?
A:
It will fit all sizes that have a cavitation plate larger than 5 inches wide, usually 40 horse power and up.

Q:
I have a 2015 - Four Winns Horizon w/ Volvo Penta IO -200 HP. Boat tends to porpoise, so I need to be trimmed down all the way. Looking to get a bit more top end speed and higher RPM's by being able to trim up a bit more. Engine is rated for 4200 - 4600 RPM. Only getting to 3800 - 3900 now. No problem planing off as it is now. Will the SE 400 help ?
A:
It sounds like you need a different size pitch, you change your pitch to adjust the RPM's. Please call in with your engine manufacturer, horse power, year and what size pitch your currently using and we can assist you find the best prop to get the performance your looking for.
