Good addition for flexibility of mounting options.
by Bevin from Ham Lake, Minnesota on July 09, 2020
Took about an hour to install. Needed to realize that just because it is 8 ft length top, does not mean it will fold down at 4 feet from the mounts. Something to think about when doing your pre-order measurements, do the math. Since I have rear tiller motor on my 16ft fishing boat and tend to troll a lot, I ended up installing the bimini backwards on the boat. This way when the bimini is up, there is no obstruction (straps or H70A brackets) at the rear of the boat, hindering my fishing actions. With the added brackets (H70A), mounted towards the bow of the boat, the bimini remains upright even with no straps securing the rear. When in storage, the bimini is high enough to easily pass under it when needed.

I bought my bimini top just in time for the long 4th of July weekend, and we spent more than 12 hours under the sun boating and fishing with it. It was easy to install and the quality is everything I expected it to be.

Everything went as plan. Got delivered as scheduled. Went together fairly easy if you follow the directions. It appears well constructed. Only time will tell on durability. It will be 5 stars once I see if it last five years per the warranty So far so good.

Very nice!
by Phil from Maybee, Michigan on June 10, 2018
These Bimini top rear braces are a nice accessory to the top, and made the top a nice accent to my boat, really dressed it up and made it look nice. The furnished rivets to mount the fittings to the other end of the poles after you cut them work better than they look. The directions were ok. But if you’re mechanically inclined, they are easy to figure out how to install them without directions. If not, follow the directions, it should still be pretty easy to figure out. I’d advise using tubing cutters to cut them to length, they make a nice square cut. Only wish they had clevis pins instead of screws where the pole meets the Bimini top for faster and easier break down. Nevertheless, I’m still very happy with my purchase, and glad I bought this accessory! Thank you

Boat Top Order arrived with tubing but No Top
by John from Fort McMurray, Alberta on September 04, 2017
Placed a order for a boat Top which of course comes with Tubing to install it on the boat. Packing paper indicated 3 items contained within the box. The Top and Boot then the Support Tubing. While actually the only thing in the box is Tubing. Called customer service and said would copy a email to me addressed to the warehouse. No email received and no followup. Being from Canada with shipping and exchange the Oder was $620 Canadian for a result of a few useless Tubing poles.

2002 Four Winns Bimini Top
by Alfred from Lee's Summit, Missouri on August 08, 2017
Top ripped on seams during the installation on the 1st day!! Also the cover to store it in ripped on 1st day. Installed on smooth concrete(Garage floor) so nothing to grab or rip just bad seam stitching. Have taken it out multiple times since and plan to have replaced this winter but other than the seams being faulty it works great, easy to install and came with all hardware, instructions. Works great. Hoping I just got a lemon on the stitching. 5 Stars if better seams

Poorly packaged and quality control
by Jerry from Anthem, Arizona on June 28, 2017
I received the bimini top in a torn box. I understand shipping is out of the control of the manufacturer but planning for minor bumps and rough handling should be a consideration of the manufacturer when packaging their products. The aluminum tubing was not even wrapped in plastic so the uprights and bows were just resting against each other. The result was several superficial scratches in most of the aluminum. Although not major blemishes it is upsetting to pay for a new product and receive it damaged. A damage that could have been prevented with a little extra packaging material. My wife receives bottles of hair shampoo with more packaging. The second issue was a bow had been misaligned at the coupler, so, when the bow is attached to the upright it creates an s not a u shape. So I contacted iBoats, sent photographs of the damage and the coupler issue. I am now waiting for their response after being told Westland is very particular about how they handle exchanges. It would be nice if they were particular about their products and customer care. Overall, I would say the bimini was a good product for the price but I am worried the screws that attach the second side of the coupler through the very thin walled aluminum will fail due to an auger effect the screws will have over time.

iBoats Makes it Easy
by R from Owego, New York on October 04, 2016
Ordered a bimini from their web site. As might be expected, the number of combinations of hull type and length is immense. For biminis, add in the number of bow types, fabric types, colors, and your budget and the decision process can be daunting. The iBoats web site simplifies the process and makes it pretty straight forward, but you may want to have a pencil and paper handy so you can remember what was what and retrace your steps. Let them walk you through the process, and CAREFULLY adhering to their instructions for measuring your boat (trust what they say about size ranges, product and frame flexibility), you'll end up with exactly what you want. Going over the assembly and installation instructions and YouTube videos before ordering may help clarify the sizing and measurement instructions. If you need help, call them - they're very helpful (and I wound up with an unexpected discount!). I suspect the frame and fabric components are manufactured on an order-by-order basis even so, turnaround time is excellent and their delivery dates were right on. Shipping is flexible my order was delivered to where I was vacationing with my boat, which leads me to the next point. Boat people are pretty handy, but the assembly and installation instructions and YouTube videos will come in handy again. It is strongly recommended that you look at the YouTube video about assembly before attempting it - it's done upside down and backwards, don't try to think about what you're building - just do what they say! You will need adequate space to do it. They tell you exactly what tools are required (took along on vacation and was all that were necessary). Bimini choices and options are many, I can't imagine it being any easier to make one's way through the entire ordering-through-installation process than iBoats does. I looked at biminis for years before ordering one it will be a great addition to your boat.

by Michael from Newberry, Florida on August 27, 2016
My Bimini Top when down interfered with the tilt of my engine. When up the Bimini Top did not road well and was too high for my boat shelter. I added this product and cut it so my engine can tilt up and down without moving the Bimini and it roads well.

by Terrel from Reese, Michigan on August 01, 2016
The tubing frame for the Bimini fits perfectly on my Whaler. Directions were very easy to follow and installation was simple. From start to finish, it took less than an hour and I am very satisfied with how it looks. Although I cannot evaluate the durability yet, it appears to be strong structurally so I am hoping it will last for several years. Great value.

Great Product
by Rodney from Baxter Springs, Kansas on August 05, 2015
This product is a great addition to my Westland top. Instructions were easy to understand, except they did not state what size to drill the hole for the rivet after you cut the length to fit. So, I just used a step bit one step at a time until the rivet fit. I purchased Attwood Stainless Steel Quick Release Clevis Pins w/ Lanyard so it makes a quick way to drop the top so I can put the boat in the garage. I chose to cut a groove in the bottom of the bracket so the lanyard would recess and the bracket fit more flush with the boat.

Good
by Fredrick from Del Rio, Texas on July 22, 2015
The tubes are nice but I did have to cut them to fit where I wanted them to. They were easy to cut. Used a circular saw with a plywood blade and it went right through the tube. Not bad for their purpose. And I did buy removable pins to prop up the poles so it's easier to lay down for storage in my garage.

The tubes on the poles are made of very inexpensive aluminum that bent the 1st time of use, other manufacturers poles are made of a heavier gauge aluminum. Nylon fittings
by Robert from Georgetown, Texas on March 08, 2015
I've not had the boat in the water with the top up, but it looks good in the driveway! As long as the warranty covers the nylon fittings then one concern of them being stout enough to handle the load over a long period of time is partially relieved. However the deck mounted fittings all have bolts that hold the support poles in place. Very inconvenient, and you have to order the nearly $100 stainless fittings if you choose to go to a 1/4" spring loaded clevis pin.

Great Product, Stupid Owner
by John from Falls Church, Virginia on June 26, 2014
The support tubes are terrific and installed easily. I, on the other hand, am not too bright of a boat owner and decided to leave the bimini up (wrapped in its cover) with its new supports while trailering down the interstate. Well, at 70mph the cover unzipped and the bimini top turned into a parachute and tore itself up pretty good. Yes, buy this product, but put it down when trailering. I recommend also buying the quick release "grenade pins" to make that task easier.

by Joseph from Corryton, Tennessee on June 25, 2014
Top worked great. As I imagined. I called Westland marine as well as Iboats and the "recommended" size would have been to short for me to stand under and I'm only 5'10". Measure twice before you order. The sunbrella fabric is awsome. Only choice there and though I had an issue with stitching on fabric. The service and help getting corrected was A+++.

See my review on Westland / Sunbrella Bimini. Love it. These braces help make it solid. Hold everything in right place then the front straps just tension it all. Easy to install - came longer than I needed - used a small $8 pipe cutter to cut - made it easy. 2 weeks of skiing tubing wake boarding and running all over the lake and it was solid all the time. Mine came with a boot to use when bimini is folded. Speeds up to 55mph and no problems at all. I'm not saying you should run that fast without folding the top - but I did a few times - so gives you an idea how solid it is on my boat.

Easy to install, very sturdy
by Timothy from Morgan Hill, California on August 02, 2013
These were easy to install and the hardware and tubes are well made and sturdy. It was more work than I thought because I realized the previous owner of the boat had installed the bimini top backwards. Once I got that sorted out and remounted it correctly the struts went in nicely and it made it much easier to deal with than when it went down flat.

Good product
by Jory from Rockwall, Texas on July 27, 2013
The tubing was plenty long. I actually had enough tubing to make both supports from one and used the second support for another project. The fittings are nylon so I'm sure they will need to be replaced at some point but overall I'm satisfied. These tubes do need to be cut to fit. So you will need a chop saw, or at least a hack saw.

Satisfied Customer
by Guy from Kaysville, Utah on May 31, 2013
I purchased this product to install on my 16' Fishing boat. Product came to me on time, well packaged and exactly how I ordered it. I purchased the 2 color top and it looks great! Installation was a snap (took less that 2 hours). I made 1 small modification to the rear braces. Instead of using the screw that connects the rear brace to the boat rail bracket I drilled a 1/4" hole through the aluminum brace and the bracket and installed a 1/4" retaining pin. This works fantastic for me since it allows me to raise and lower Bimini(tool free) as needed . I can easily lower the Bimini to get into low storage unit//garage door or lower towards the bow if I want the Bimini entirely out of the way while using boat for fishing. I have been using the Bimini for a couple of months now and it works flawlessly and has salvaged a couple of rainy days on the lake.

Great price, well made
by Maribeth from Cincinnati, Ohio on September 13, 2012
I have a 25 year old boat, and it didn't make sense to spend $800 for a bimini. The I-Boats price was fantastic, and even though the frame is aluminum, it's still very sturdy. The fabric may not be as heavy as the $800 top, but it's nice and it does the job.

by John from Batesville, Indiana on August 15, 2012
The poles were of premium quality, reasonable instructions, and installation was a snap... No problems at all. They work great for what they were designed for. I made my own improvement, however. I replaced the screw between the pole mounting bracket and the lower portion mounted to the boat with a modified bolt and wing nut assembly to make it greatly quicker and easier to detach and lower the back end of the bemini into the boat for transportation on the road and so I can get the boat through the doorway into my garage.

Easy install.
by William from Oregon City, Oregon on August 15, 2012
The instructions were very well layed out. The product was sturdy and looks very nice on my boat. If I had to wish for one change it would be that the connections from plastic to aluminum where not all "riveted" in place. This of course means no adjustability from the standpoint of those connections. However with some measuring, and an easy install, it all came out looking nearly perfect.

Aluminum Tubing Rear Brace

These braces were easy to install and were shipped from the factory in the same box as the bimini top from Westland. Installing the bimini top and these aluminum braces instead of the nylon straps was well worth the time and money. I find the braces are very strong and work very well when its windy on the water or at speed. Great product, great company and they arrived on time. I will buy from Iboats and Westland again in the future.

Westland Bimini's ROCK!
by Michael from Sherwood, Arkansas on June 13, 2011
I was very nervous in ordering this Bimini using custom measurements. I have a 1997 Seadoo Challenger 1800. My boat has dual jet engines with top speed of 64 mph. I would not make it a regular practice, but the bimini holds up fine at that speed. My last seadoo factory bimini looked like it would tear off around 45-50 mph. I bought the 8 foot bimini which is HIGHLY recommended for maximum shade. I also got it 3 feet high and this provides ample room for standing in the boat. NO REGRETS! I bought it all with struts and a boot for about 165.00 on sale! GET ONE...OR TWO!!!

Exactly as expected
by David from Bedford, Massachusetts on May 25, 2011
What can I say. It is a couple of poles with some hardware. You cut them to the correct length and install them. Nothing complicated and no problems. After you cut the poles to the correct length you suppose to use some included rivets to mount the end caps. The rivets need to be pounded in with a hammer. I tossed the rivets and used a couple of stainless pop rivets. Much easier than pounding in a few rivets with a hemmer.

Poor quality
by Duong from Sacramento, California on July 04, 2020
I received this product mid April. I installed it end of April early May. Used it only twice. On the second trip, I was going 25 miles, When the boat hit a wake the frame snapped. It was the longer J bar that snapped. I contacted customer service to replace the one J bar that snapped and they said they couldn’t. I paid nearly $170 for this upgraded tubing for it to break on my second trip on the water. I was willing to pay for the replacement rod but was not even offered that option. My only option is to buy the complete tubing set. So to pay another $170 for a product that could possibly snap again within a few usage does not seem logical. Not impress with the product nor the service at all. I do not recommend this product to anyone.

Misunderstood
by Gordon from Sioux City, Iowa on July 30, 2017
I like the top, I assumed that it would tie into existing tops bases. That was not the case and I probably should have ordered the longer main poles. Which I will probably do anyway. Just installed recently and will know better after today. My suggestion would be to say how it mounts prior to ordering. Although you probably did and I just missed it. Seems to be a very good product otherwise.

Problem with the Fittings
by Thomas from Grandville, Michigan on July 08, 2016
The fittings were missing the set screws which are required to secure the fittings to the poles. Nothing in the parts bag either. Rather than calling customer service and waiting several days for replacements, I had to go to Home Depot. Turns out the threads are a metric size (M6) so it is not commonly available in many places, but a shout out to the guy at HD who was able to find some that would work, although they are way too long. Not real happy with this product, especially considering how much they cost. I would not recommend them.

Mounting issues
by Kevin from Watford, Ontario on July 16, 2015
I purchased the Westland Bimini top a month ago but still I don't have it install because I am in the process of fabricating brackets to mount it. I ordered it for my exact boat however the only place it will mount is on my windshield, any other spot and it either wont open or wont close. So if I mount it to the top edge of my windshield, my mooring cover wont fit. Therefore I've been trying to come up with a way to mount it on the side top rail of the windshield so that my mooring cover will still fit. Iboats does have an angle mounting bracket however with them I wouldn't be able to use quick connects because it will be tight to the side of the frame. I want to use quick connects instead of the screws because the bimini will have to come off after every time I use it or my covers wont fit. So, I am trying to find time to fabricate some brackets, I bought aluminum angle bars and come to find my windshield rail is not 90 degrees so I have to come up with a way to get more than a 90 degree angle on them. I came up with a solution however it is taking some fabrication time. All in all, not an easy install to say the least but not so much a fault of the bimini but the limited mounting location and mooring cover interference.

Q:
I purchased a Bimini top and the tubing earlier this year. I love the product but I didn't order the tubing long enough. I was wondering if there is a way that I can just order the poles that are longer?
A:
Yes. Please call us at the number listed on the top of the page.

Q:
Can you Buy A rear Strut Brace with Stainless Steel fitting instead of the Nylon Fittings?
A:
Yes, this strut brace kit is available with steel fittings. You can find it on this link: http://www.iboats.com/Aluminum-Tubing-W-Steel-Fittings-Pair-Westland/dm/view_id.117953

Q:
What lenght available....as 18 or 20 inches ??
A:
This comes in 46 inch length.

Q:
What are the diameters of the tubes and the clamps?
A:
The tubes are 7/8".

Q:
How wide?
A:
The diameter of the tubes are 7/8". Not sure what width measurement you are after. These are individual tubes to install at the back of bimini top to keep stored up.

Q:
Hello, if I install the strut braces will I need the rear straps anymore? Will the braces replace the straps? Sounds like the braces would make the tbimini top more stable. Thanks, Tom?
A:
No you do not need to use the rear straps when you use the strut brace. This will replace them.

Q:
How does it attach to the existing tubing and how long are they. Are there two poles?
A:
It has rail mounts that you screw into existing tubing. These are 46" poles and they come in pairs with all the necessary fittings and screws.

Q:
We just purchased this product and wanted to know if this replaces the straps that come with the boat that secure the back of the bimini?
A:
The bimini top comes with the straps, hardware, fittings, and everything that you need to install it. It will replace whatever you currently own.

Q:
Will the Westland Tubing fit a boat with a Carver Bimini?
A:
No, we cannot guarantee that the fit will be compatible if two different manufactured parts are put together. You would need to order the frames of the same manufacturer, depending on which one you currently own.

Q:
Are the mounts for the rear strut brace fixed or does it swivel?
A:
It is fixed.

Q:
Sirs do you have the heavy duty clear plastic that could be placed on my(purchased your top) Bimini for side windows and enclosures with snaps for fastening. WJ?
A:
We do not carry the clear plastic for windows and enclosures.

Q:
Westland Rear Strut Brace, H70A, does that come with fittings and mounts?
A:
Yes all the necessary mounts, fittings, and screws come with purhcase of strut brace.

30 days after the purchase date, the manufacturer of the product(s) will need to be contacted for a warranty claim.
