iboats.com honored by Forbes

SALT LAKE CITY - iboats.com was chosen as the overall favorite Web site in the watercraft category, beating out all other marine-related Web sites in a recent Forbes.com quarterly survey, iboats.com reported recently.

Forbes.com named eight �best� watercraft Web sites, and, from those, chose iboats.com as its best-of-the-best award, an honor they call �Forbes Favorite.�

In selecting iboats.com the editors indicated, �This excellent site offers a rich trove of seafaring resources. Want to purchase a vessel? There are nearly 50 categories of powerboats alone, ranging from aluminum boats to trawler yachts. But there are also plentiful personal watercraft and sailboat listings too.�

Identified as the �best� feature on iboats.com, Forbes.com chose the �active message boards [that] discuss everything from fishing in Lake Michigan to dealing with frozen motors.�

The Forbes.com editors rate each site according to five criteria: content, design, speed, navigation and customization, and iboats.com says it ranked near the top in every category.

iboats.com also said the consumer information forums portion of it business continues to experience very strong growth, with membership having increased by 39.3 percent in the last twelve months to 55,867 registered members.

There are currently 22 different, specific boating, engines and fishing-related discussion groups offered on iboats.com. The total number of marine topics and questions discussed in these groups has grown over the last twelve months by 54.2 percent, from 73,291 to 113,017 topics. Also, the number of answers�or posts� to these questions has grown by 69.5 percent, from 409,998 to 694,789. The average number of answers per question has also increased to 6.1, up from 5.6 a year ago this April. iboats says these are the largest boating-related forums to be found anywhere online.
