Screw came loose during use and bimini top violently flopped up and down
by Scott from Bullhead City, Arizona on June 12, 2018
I am pleased with iboats.com and the Taylor Made Bimini Top I purchased. However, I am not pleased with the optional Taylor Made Adjustable Bimini Support Poles. After I installed the poles and during their first outing use, one of the poles small allen hex head screw came loose. This caused the support pole to violently go up and down while under way and caused flapping of the bimini top. I stopped the boat and re-tightened the screw (luckily I had the allen wrench with me). During the re-tightening process I cracked the plastic clamp that the screw is embedded into. For me, the extra price I paid (almost double) to get the adjustable poles over the fixed poles turned out to be a bad investment.

Be careful with the tightening screw!!!
by Adam from Cary, Illinois on October 03, 2015
First off I need to say the poles do exactly what I was hoping they could do. Give me the flexibility to change placement of the Bimini top. However, the poly plastic material sleeve has the tightening screw threads tapped directly into it. So you shouldn't tighten the stop screw too much or you'll strip the threads in the poly sleeve which pretty much ruins the pole. A metal threaded insert should have been tapped or fused into the poly plastic sleeve instead. Also, a clamp type sleeve that attaches to the Bimini poles reduces the hassle of taking the fabric top off and pulling the rear assembly apart to install the sleeve.

Worth every penny
by Leane from Sandown, New Hampshire on August 19, 2015
The adjustable Bimini support poles were great. They look much better the straps you end up with if you didn't purchase the support poles.

Good poles - no install instructions
by John from Hot Springs Village, Arkansas on August 06, 2015
These would have been 5 stars except they came with no install instructions. If you are putting these on a new top install, the jaw clamps must be put on the top frame while you are assembling the top frame. Otherwise you will have to take the frame apart again to get them on. No reference to this in the top frame assembly instructions either, but support confirmed this when I called them.

Good quality and easy to set up and install.
by Terry from Beardstown, Illinois on July 01, 2015
Haven't had the chance to use it on the river yet due to chances of flooding in our area but when the water goes down I will be out there! The color matched my boat perfectly and the quality of the fabric was exceptional. It was very easy to assemble and install. Mine came with plastic fasteners that attached to the boat. My only wish is that it would have came with stainless hardware. I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a little shade while boating.

Get these if you buy the bimini
by Eddie from Nashua, New Hampshire on September 10, 2014
So much better than straps IMHO. Also allows the top to be out of the way, when underway. A must. Very easy to install... they work great.

Taylor Made Bimini Top
by Peter from Linwood, New Jersey on August 18, 2013
The Eye End of A-Bow and support pole broke off during installation. They used cheat plastic and there were air bubbles in the parts so it won't hold up.

Soft Aluminum
by George from Pittsfield, Maine on June 30, 2013
The poles do the job they're designed to do, however, the aluminum is so soft that every time you tighten the thumbscrew adjustment it leaves a rough-edged circular mark on the interior pole. I believe a different clamping device should be used or perhaps stainless steel poles would work better. I would have used "fixed-length" poles except for the fact that I have to lower the bimini to achieve a satisfactory travel height on the trailer. Additionally, the poles cannot be relied on alone to maintain the bimini taut. If too much uplift tension is applied the poles will simply pull out of their socket - taking the adjustment device with them. The adjustment device is only held in place with a small set screw.

I had these for 1 season and the plastic flirting in the middle stripped and cracked. After attempted phone call and 2 emails no response from Taylor. I am now proud of my duct tape supported Taylor product.

could have ben better
by Mike from New Caney, Texas on August 19, 2012
Thease are really cool and make using my top so easy. but warn you the thumb screws heads strip out with verry little preasure, then you have to cut the plastic off the head of the screw to ever get it loose again.just make sure you purchase better thumb screws from your local home inproovment center,or you will be stuck with no way to let your top down without some tools.other than that they are great.

The poles are exactly what they need to be. They could have used some instructions, and of course would have liked them with all stainless hardware.

Good Product
by Dan from Chilliwack, British Columbia on August 13, 2011
This is a great addition to the bimini top frame as it allows you to leave the top up. However, there are no installation instructions, nor is there any mention of installing one of these with the actual bimini top instructions. Therefore, take care to install the necessay support pole brackets before installing the bimini top frame to the boat. Otherwise a great product.

support pole hardware breaks on first use
by Carol from Midlothian, Virginia on June 05, 2011
Installation was not difficult. Took the boat out for the first time since the installation. Attempted to raise the top once the boat was launched and the plastic hardware where two poles come together broke. Overall the material of this canopy is pretty flimsy compared to other replacement tops we observed on the other boats but it care it might last a couple of years but there is really no excuse to pay this kind of money and have the plastic hardware break before it could be used the first time. I am hoping after contacting the company they will replace at no cost.
