With gasoline now contaning 10% ethanol, removing water from the fuel is important. Ethanol attracts moisture from the air, and moisture in the engine is bad news. I've used Sierra fuel/water separators for years, and never had any such related problems with water. They should be changed yearly, more frequently if you run more than the average.

This is labeled as a replacement for the Mercury 35-802893Q, but when received the specs reflect it is a 21 Micron filter! NOT the 10 Micron filer I need. I had looked for the specs on-line before ordering and they were not listed. The 10 Micron P/N is 18-7945 according to the West Marine website.

Bought this for my 04 yamaha 90 hp outboard and I'm quite impressed with the quality of this product. The only negative thing i would say is that I wish it came with hose fittings. Other than that it's a fantastic product.

Performs as advertised, same form, fit, function as higher priced OEM offering.

Easy to mount and set up. multiple mounting options makes it easy to find a good spot for any set up.

Nice kit easy to install and has several choices on how to run your fuel lines....

Paid for but never received. It has been over two weeks. No explanation.

I like the fact that the hose barbs came with the kit and that the filter was shrink wrapped to protect it. Installation was a breeze. One note for other installers: pre-fill the filter with gas before you screw it onto the housing it will make start up much easier.

If you do not already have one of these installed on your boat, you should waste no time getting one soon! The one I received did not have the two plugs for the unused ports. Luckily I already had some so installing it wasn't a problem.

Wouldn't use any other separating filter.

Worked as expected. Don't forget to fill the filter with fuel if you don't have a "primer" bulb... before installation
