Great replacement of my old style sender.
by Curtis from Albertville, Alabama on April 26, 2017
I used it for my freshwater tank that is only 6 inches deep and she works amazingly. My gauge has never worked since I've had the boat until I put this sending unit on there. Definitely recommend for someone needing a new sending unit.

Perfect
by Jon from Sedalia, Missouri on April 21, 2017
I replaced the sending units on a 1986 Ranger 390v with these and they were just what the doctor ordered. I followed the directions on the package and had no troubles with the replacement. The cap screws included in the package were fine threads and my tanks had co , no problems the old ones were in good shape so I just reused them. There is a new gasket in the package so its all there when you get it. I liked the fact that the new floats are long lasting plastic, my old ones were natural cork and were falling apart and saturated so I had no idea where my fuel level was, now I know. These also worked with the original fuel gage, which made for an all around pleasant experience.

Perfect replacement!
by Marcie from Hollywood, South Carolina on April 05, 2013
The product description doesn't mention that the new sending unit does come with a new gasket, mounting screws and nut in the package. It lined up perfectly with my existing fuel tank. It went on an 89 Bayliner Capri 21 gallon integral fuel tank. The rod was easily measured and cut with a good pair of diagonal cutters. The instructions were clear (read them first, not second like I usually do). It is really nice to know how much fuel I have on board now. Just a note....with the boat level it will give a true reading...but if your not running on plane,it will read differently due to the movement of the float. Marcie J

by Wade from Ukiah, California on September 14, 2012
Haven't had a working fuel gauge in about 6 years. Finally I decided to figure out what the issue was and after reading forums here, I grounded the sender and it was bad. Measured my tank (12") and ordered this unit. Got it really fast (3 days) and packaging with instructions on it was printed clearly. Fit perfectly and now my fuel gauge works beautifully!! This replacement fsu works great. Anyone worried about acurateness, need not wory. I used this to replace an old sight guage w/ an electric add on. The electric part failed, however the sight gauge read 3/4 tank which I knew was right. After swapping out, my gas gauge on dash read 3/4 -perfect. This was super easy to size and install. Gas Tank Sending Unit
by Jeff from Williston, North Dakota on August 05, 2011
I purchased a gas tank sending unit. The product description, on the web, did not say that it included a gasket. So I purchased a gasket separately. Nice to have a gas guage
by Edwin from San Antonio, Texas on March 12, 2015
Dealer installed a fuel guage in the old hour-meter hole when re-powering boat, but it didn't work. Put this sender in and life is good- don't have to guess anymore. Easy to install although clearance through hole in my tank was very tight. Once in place, tighten screws, attach two wires and go fishing.

The design needs work
by Thomas from Dadeville, Alabama on April 23, 2013
I was finally able to get this thing to fit, but it suffers from either a poor design or poor installation instructions. To begin with, it doesn't look like this picture. The float-on-a-wire attaches to a vertical piece that hangs down into the tank. The installer has to cut the vertical piece to the correct length for the tank. The problem is that the float/wire piece will not hang straight down for installation. It always sticks out about 30 degrees from vertical. That makes the size of the unit too big to fit through the mounting hole in the tank. As the size of the mounting hole is determined by the bolt circle on the gauge, there is no reason they should have not seen this problem coming. I had to put an S-bend in the wire while hoping I didn't damage the unit to get it to fit.

Universal Sending Unit
by Michael from Jacksonville, Florida on September 11, 2012
The clips holding the float leave a lot to be desired. However, there are extras provided if you need them. The 12 - 24" is not made like the picture shows. You have a bracket extending down from the top of sending unit. Then you decide, using the instructions, where to mount the floating swing arm and float to that bracket. The black mount is not mounted to a plate as shown. You have to mount it to a much longer bracket. You will have to cut this bracket below where you mount the floating arm. Then you will have to cut float arm to proper length. For the floating swing arm, the instructions give you the suggested length for the depth of your tank. Wire connection to floating arm must be mounted on the bottom to work properly. Depending on where you mount the floating arm on the bracket and where you cut the floating swing arm, this will decide where and when the sending unit will read full and empty, so measure correctly and mount bracket higher or leave swing arm longer if you want to leave some type of reserve when your gauge reads empty. The parts are made of light weight aluminum that bend very easily. If you bend the swinging float arm while installing, your reading will be incorrect. If you have a deep tank and your clearance above the mounting hole in the tank can not be installed by going straight down, it would be very easy to bend. My tank was 22 inches deep and only 5-6" below the gunnel, so I had to install at an ankle and try not to bend the arm. It would be nice if iboats offered a one piece sending unit, like the one shown, in a longer depth than 12".

Q:
I need to replace a Rochester 9341-7000 with round top. Will this work?
A:
This doesn't necessarily cross reference, but you can use it and adjust to the length you need. I believe the round 9431-R7000 tank depth was 6-25". If you have further questions give us a call at 1-800-914-1123.

Q:
Does it come with a black gauge?
A:
Unfortunately, we only have the white gauge with the black trim. We do not have any gauges that are solid black.
