The company has been around for over 100 years. You have likely heard of the name in the automotive or ATV industry, but it originally started as a loom business. It didn’t get into car manufacturing until 1937. The first outboard Suzuki Marine built was in 1965 with its D55 (5.5 HP) model. It continued to expand its 2-stroke motors for several decades until 1994. At that time, the company shifted sole focus to building 4-stroke outboards. The first was its DF9.9 and DF15. It continued to build upon that and is one of the leaders in 4-stroke technology. It has one of the biggest lineups in the industry for those motors as well. This type of outboard has become quite popular as it provides more power and the engineering is getting better and better every year. This has allowed outboards to meet EPA regulations but keep advancing on performance. Suzuki is committed to expanding on that and meeting its customer’s desires.
