Westland
The Cincher - Westland
Price: $28.99
Part # 5015

Accommodates Westland's boat cover draw ropes as well as thousands of other tie down needs. Westland's cincher is the answer to a knot free, quick and easy way to draw your boat cover's rope as tight as possible, yet with a flick of the thumb lever, the rope is totally released. And as great as the cincher works for boat cover draw ropes, it's convenient uses stretch far beyond boat cover applications. Use the cincher for securing anything with a 1/4" rope or cord. Boxes, crates, tarps, tent lines, cargo, bikes, motor cycles, the list goes on and on.

Great Addition
by Michael from Omaha, Nebraska on June 15, 2020
This device makes cinching up your boat cover a breeze. My only complaint would be that it is an extra you must add on to your purchase. The rachet and release system makes the final tie down simple and secure, with an easy realeas mechanism to undo the rope.

Clever
by Richard from Fredericksburg, Texas on November 06, 2019
Works great to tension 1/4" rope. Definitely easier than trying to tie a fancy slip knot that may, or may not, achieve the correct tension. Quality materials and easy to use. It's easy to thread the rope through and the the tension and release prawl works flawlessly. Think I'll buy a few more! A 2 rope / 1 hook version of this cincher would be great to tension the ends of the hem rope in a boat cover to a single point.....

The half page instruction dd not make it clear. I couldn't figure it out. Also, it was unclear which end of the cover is front. There is a a tag that says Front Rear Starboard Side...and the opposite ends has ropes. Are the ropes the rear? I assume that is where the Cincher goes?

Heavy Duty
by Duncan from Oroville, Washington on May 21, 2015
Good product, well built and strong. Probably a bit too heavy duty as I'm a bit concerned about damaging my boat when removing the cover. Best place to connect the rope is on the bow portion of the string (both ends). Otherwise, you'll be pulling this cincher with a hook through or around the tower.

Certainly makes tightening up the perimeter rope for my boat cover much easier and faster, I feel very confident knowing the Cincher is holding is securely holding the rope around my boat which prevented the boat cover from coming off the boat. It is also very easy to release the tension without hurting ones fingers. I would highly recommend this product. DP.

Well made handy
by Joel from Santa Fe, New Mexico on June 09, 2013
I am impressed with the quality of this gadget - it appears to be well made and substantial. It is easy to use - just depress the catch lever and thread the rope through by rotating the catch wheel. Once on the rope, using the cincher is fast - hook it onto a fixed point on the boat or trailer and full the rope to the desired tension. To release, pull on the rope to release tension on the catch mechanism and depress the release catch lever. Note: For my 15' Drift Boat, I found that two of these were required - there wasn't enough room to hook the Cincher onto a loop at the other end of the rope, so I had to hook both ends onto the trailer. This might not be true for a boat with greater beam. For best results, cross the ends under the stern of the boat to opposite corners of the trailer. Jury is still out on durability - I've only had these for a couple of weeks.

Must Have for Draw String Covers
by Matthew from Appleton, Wisconsin on June 03, 2013
This product worked very well with my new Sharkskin drawstring cover. It's very easy to use, and is much faster than tying a knot every time. My only complaint is that I wish the hook on the end was a snap hook, instead of an open hook so that the rope that you're attaching to it doesn't fall off.

cincher and boat cover
by Glenn from Topeka, Kansas on March 08, 2013
I recently ordered a custom boat cover with cincher for my 1996 Cobalt 232. I like the fabric but the fit at the nose of the boat could have been better. More important I was dissappointed that the cincher did not come with some sort of fabric pocket to keep it from rattling and scratching the side of the boat when in transit with the cover on. When I purchased the boat in 1996 this very same company provided the factory boat cover and the cincher was built into the cover and had a canvas with velcro built into it where the cincher could be enclosed.

custom cobalt mooring cover
by Edwin from Arcadia, California on September 10, 2012
Very happy with the material. Easier to handle than the original cover. My cover is custom and has openings for a ski tower. The velcro pull over wraps are very tight at the tower base. We had trouble pulling them closed. Perhaps a little more width in material would resolve this? My boat is a 2001 206 Cobalt with a factory ski tower.

The Cincher is FANTASTIC!!!!
by Bryan from Fenton, Missouri on May 10, 2012
Are you tired of tying the boat cover rope that snugs the cover to the boat? It takes too much time to untie the knot to loosen the cover. This "Cincher" was the answer! Make a loop knot or schnell in one rope on the rear of the boat cover. You then run the other rope from the boat cover through the pulley, which has a cleat system inside of it. Hook the loop knot in the hook of the cincher, pull the rope tight on the pulley side, cleat it, DONE!!! The cleat has a button to push to release and then unhook the loop. This is better than what I have done in the past and well worth the inexpensive investment.

by Jonathan from Glen Burnie, Maryland on October 08, 2011
Product works great. But they lack in telling you that you need two of them. iboats needs to inform the customer that you need one for each end of rope. The unit will not hold two ropes. I bought it for a cover which has two ropes that need trying down and they sell this product as an accessory but it sells in single package and they don't mention anywhere that you need two of them,.

useful
by Severin from Victoria, British Columbia on October 03, 2011
I use this to keep my boat cover's perimeter rope cinched up. The downside is that I need to make a loop (knot) on one end of the rope the Cincher goes on the other end and pulls on the loop. Easy to use. I don't have to pull hard to keep the boat cover snug. Note that I tuck the Cincher under the boat cover so it doesn't rest on the outdrive directly (which would probably scratch it over time). I think this is probably a better alternative than the all-plastic cinchers. Note that your rope has to fit inside the Cincher pulley, so cut your rope well (I used an Xacto knife blade heated with my blowtorch, to make a perfectly straight, sealed cut).

Q:
Does the cincher come with rope or just by them selves?
A:
It is just the cincher. The rope from the cover attaches to it.

Q:
What size line ?
A:
1/4 inch.

Q:
My boat is on a lift and I currently have to run ropes under the hull to secure the cover. This requires a good bit of effort. Is there a solution ? Do you have a means of securing the cover to the dock ?
A:
This product acts as a crank or pulley to lock draw rope to keep cover tight around boat. You can also look at suction cup tie downs we offer: http://www.iboats.com/Suction-Cup-Tie-Down-Kit-4-pack-Kwik-Tek/dm/view_id.694027

After all, we want you to be satisfied with your order so you'll return again and again as an iboats.com customer, and to also recommend us to your boating friends.

A made-to-order semi-custom cover may be returned within the first 30 days after shipment, but is subject to a 15-25% restocking fee. Odd-Lots, Liquidations, In-Stock Specials, Closeouts and customer requested alterations are non-returnable unless an error was made by iboats.com or by the boat cover manufacturer.

Merchandise must be in new, unused condition with all original packaging in good condition; plus parts, accessories, manuals, and/or warranty cards included. You will need to receive a return authorization number (RA #) as well as instructions from our Customer Service Department.

Please note that each boat cover manufacturer may have additional requirements concerning product returns or warranty claims, including but not limited to: restocking fees, shipping fees, or product order change fees.

Because boat covers are "made-to-order", there will be a $25-$50 fee for any boat cover order cancellation after 1 business day of purchase, as the cover has already gone into production.

Warranty Policy

30 days after the purchase date, the manufacturer of the product(s) will need to be contacted for a warranty claim.

Returns for Canadian Customers

Canadian customers, please be careful when placing your order; iboats.com does not accept any return merchandise on Canadian orders unless the merchandise you received was defective, damaged, or an error was made by iboats.com. In such cases, please contact iboats.com Customer Service within 30 days of the original shipping date for a return authorization number. Returned items that do not have a RA # will not be accepted.
