The kit I ordered was not the right one for my motor...not the fault of iboats. I have a Japanese Mariner so it is hard to locate parts for it. The return, however was flawless and handled promptly.

Hey Guys Thanks for the water pump replacement kit, everything came out great and my motor works better than when I bought it. The motor has not been opened since 1985, that's about 26 years, full power has been restored captain! :) Thanks again guys!

Water Pump

This kit, for the 40HP Yamaha 1986 has all the right gaskets, cup, impeller, etc., however, the bolts that were sent to me were all too short. I had to use the old bolts. Be warned.

Sierra part #18-0292 Wear plate to pump housing gaskets

Sierra has years of experience and manufacturing expertise to ensure an exact fit for numerous styles of gaskets. During manufacturing of this gasket, a rubber and fiber material is cut with precision to original equipment standards. No details are missed in cutting the correct diameter and location of openings to ensure no cutting or trimming when installing.

The wear plate to pump housing gasket comes as a complete set with precise CAD cut gasket to eliminate hand cutting or trimming. Typical thickness for these products can range up to 1/16". Matching the wear plate to pump housing can have some variance when joining the two surfaces.

It is recommended during installation to clean both surfaces to the bare metal and apply a thin layer of RTV silicone sealer on the surface side to ensure the ultimate seal. They are designed for high-temperature capable of exceeding 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
