FORCE 50 HP
by Scott from Spartanburg, South Carolina on May 07, 2017
I purchased a 1998 17 ft. alum. fishing boat with a 50 hp Force engine on it. Engine seems to run quite well except at a wide open throttle. Bought this book on force engines to see if it could shed any light on the problem. Problem was solved with a new fuel filter and all new gas lines. Seems that there was a small fuel leak in one of the lines. At open throttle it leaned the gas out to much and started missing. This along with a 15 year old fuel filter was the problem. Still reading the book looking for more info.! Scott

Seloc 1984-99 Repair Manual 1100
by Michael from Wichita, Kansas on October 23, 2016
Only thing it didn't tell me: if was a 2 stroke and gas and oil mixture. Found out from dealer by serial # of Mecury Force outboard. Other than that it was very helpful for my 91 85hp, and 96 120hp engines

iBoat Service
by Donald from Seabeck, Washington on September 30, 2016
The manual was a great benefit toward making needed repairs to my boat motor. iBoats was also a great help in finding a source for the correct parts needed to make the repairs. I talked with 3 different tech and they were all very professional and helpful. They were able to help me find the only source in the country that had the needed part in stock.

Seloc manual for Force outboard motors
by John from Locust Hill, Ontario on July 19, 2012
Really needs to be edited for different groupings of the motors. Short on details. Couldn't find recommended spark plugs, for example. Description of cooling systems and problems vague. Good as a general introduction to the motors bu not so helpful for a teardown/rebuild

A helpful resource
by James from Findlay, Ohio on July 18, 2012
The SELOC manual for Force Ourboards contains a great deal of helpful information but because it covers many models from many years there is much to sort out that is not related to my motor. There are a few illustrations where the caption does not match the photograph Page 3-9 Fig. 30, Page 3-14 Fig.44. Over all I expect that it will be a great help in maintaining my outboard.

Received the manual in two days, great service. The manual was everything I wanted and more. I rebuilt all 3 carbs on my 1997, 90hp and was able to adjust the throttle linkage and idle speed to perfection in no time. It is worth every dime, I saved a lot of money by doing this myself. The motor is running great now. I would recomend this to every boat owner.

Good Info, but not quite what I expected.
by Milton from Temecula, California on April 11, 2012
The manual has a lot of great info, especially if you are new to outboard motors and boating. The photos and charts are not as updated and specific as I had hoped for. The manual was a bit pricey considering all, but these are old outboards and it is very difficult to find any specific manual or OEM parts for them. If you are new to outboards and boating you will appreciate this product. If you are a veteran small engine mechanic and mariner, you may want something more specific. All in all I am satisfied with my purchase. Shipped fast too!

125 Force 1988
by Dennis from East Islip, New York on December 17, 2011
Over all breakdown of electrical system of my 125 after getting a blow up of pictures of page 5-67 and than narrow down of blown up picture of ignition switch. After calling technical assistance and addressing to Kevin, SELCO Publising, he responded by sending these pictures, I was able to trouble shoot the electrical system and found the cause of my no start. Problem being a bad starter relay and a bad neutral interlock switch. (I patted my self on my back, thanks to Kevin and technical system of SELOC Publishing Department) Trouble shooting the Trim Tilt page 9-6 two wire Trim motor electrical test excellent. The only problem I have left is the Trim Cylinder two front bolts, are broken causing the cylinder to be elongated and stuck all the way out. Page 9-10 gives you information on the Trim Cylinder probably a more knowledgeable mechanic than me, would know what to do, how do I handle taking that apart, without causing more of a problem. I would appreciate any help with this matter or does SELOC make a manual containing more of 1984 to 1989 125 Force, that I can purchase. Thank you for your help! Dennis

Can be a bit confusing
by Stephen from Starr, South Carolina on July 21, 2011
Some aspects of the manual can be a bit confusing. When looking at the wiring diagrams there are so many different motors featured that it can be hard to decipher which diagram is for your motor. The one I found it to be was for one serial number and above. Mine was below that serial but by looking at wire colors I determined that that one was the only logical choice for my engine.
