It appears that the release handle is her back than the mounting plate, so it will interfere with the transom on my sailboat. Is that correct, or is there a special way to mount the bracket?
A:
It will just depend on your area and measurements. The 71090 the distance it is away from the mounting location when put up is 7-3/4". When it is down it is 13-5/8". The handle is adjustable if needed.

No this is an in-water only application.
