If your ladder does not have these already at the hinge, it should have! These will prevent little ones from getting their finger smashed in the hinge area should they have them there when a wake hits and the ladder moves! May prevent a nasty pinch as well. A 2 minute installation with a drill and a pop rivet gun. Now I don't worry about the ladder being used. Simple U shaped gaurd. Not much material here but if you've ever been bit by the hinge, you'll be ready to spend more than these cost.
